Sex 1-2 days before ovulation is optimal so you don't miss your fertile window
Fertile Mucus Facts
Fertile mucus (the stretchy one) usually comes before ovulation to help the sperm survive in an otherwise acidic vagina!
Not all women notice fertile mucus - this doesn't mean you can't have babies!!
Sperm Facts
Sperm can survive in the cervix for up to 5 days*
*This depends on sperm quality. The better the progressive motility (how well they swim forward) the less exact your timing for conception needs to be (above 45% is great!)
Poor sperm quality (specifically low morphology or low % of normal forms which is the DNA you're making kids with!) can lead to early miscarriages
Ovulation Facts
You often ovulate on different days
Stress will delay ovulation (your body doesn't think its 'safe' to make babies)
Your ovaries take turns, some women have a 'shy' ovary with a later ovulation date, there's often a pattern, BBT charting helps us know when that is!
You can get periods without ovulation! These are called anovulatory cycles and are relatively common
